About VELVET//CHAOS

I am a multi-passionate mixed media artist, and VELVET//CHAOS is my way of sharing my world.

I have always been drawn to history and to what has been, and I find a great deal of fascination and inspiration in it, which is clearly reflected in my photography. I am especially drawn to photographing urbex, vintage still life, classic cars, motorcycles and motor culture.

My aesthetic is strongly defined by shadows, contrast and black-and-white photography. Photography is my original way of expressing myself visually.

Over the years, I found my way into painting and have woven it into my creative expression. I often use my own photographs to create art through photo transfer techniques. I also work with charcoal and create abstract pieces in acrylic, which are some of my main mediums.

When I paint, I rarely have a clear idea of what I want to create. Instead, I choose a medium to begin with and let the work grow into whatever it becomes. My painting is heavily influenced by the state of mind I am in at the time, but also by my own history.

I want to show the beauty in what is broken and decayed. How nature takes over where people have left. The strength in what is heavy. To tell a story through an image.

My hope is to spark that same curiosity in others. To create work that triggers the imagination, evokes emotion and raises questions.

I have chosen to bring different parts of what I create onto more than just prints and canvases, because I don’t believe art is something that should only hang on a wall. Art is a way for us to express ourselves. Both for the person creating it and for the person who chooses to own it.

And we express ourselves all the time, not only in our homes.

I want to give you the space to express yourself in your own way, and to feel confidence and pride in doing so.
